bandwidth fluctuations

Post by shashi sharma on Sun Nov 03, 2013 12:57 pm

Hi all,

Now time I am in Sri Lanka . I saw some time when we start our expert from starting two to three minutes there's very high fluctuations in bandwidth. After that it is stable.

Could someone tell me why and how it is happening. And what is the principle work behind this process.

Hi Shashi,

Generally video data is quite bulky for mobile networks (3G networks are themselves quite unstable) to sustain, especially when the signal is weak or there is high congestion in the network. Initially, it might be difficult for the network to adjust to the hefty load of the video data. So, it may take some for the network to provide appreciable or stable bandwidth.

You can test this phenomenon by changing the input resolution from PAL to 1080i and observe how it might take more time for the network to adjust when higher resolution is used.
